As Upgrade Travel reports, Brataslavia-based discount airline SkyEurope is offering negative fares. This promotion, which started today and runs through the 22nd, prices their fare at -1 euro. Thus, not only do they make no profit, but they’ll pay one euro of your taxes. Even SkyEurope refers to it as the “most crazy promotion ever.”
Aside from demonstrating that they hired a discount English interpreter, “This is the best way how SkyEurope would like to express their appreciation to millions of happy customers who have used the services of the leading low-cost carrier to Central Europe.”
We tend to agree with them. A most crazy promotion and an amusing marketing gimmick. We’d like to see a U.S. carrier try something like this…close is Spirit Airlines…
Spirit Airlines announced today that they were “bringing back The Ocho to combat high airfares” and offering prices starting at $8 one way. The fare is available from Ft. Lauderdale to Atlanta, Atlantic City, Detroit, Kingston, Montego Bay, Nassau, Punta Cana, San Juan, Santo Domingo, St. Thomas, and Washington-National. Better hurry though, The Ocho runs until 11:59PM Eastern Time on Wednesday, October 18.
If you want to smile, check out Spirit’s website, and watch “our hero Ocho De La Hoya knock out High Fares Guy.”
