U.S. Airline Industry Lags Nation in Recycling

By | December 19, 2006

Reuters reported the other day that airlines and airports send more of their trash to the dump than the country as a whole. Airlines and airports sent 80 percent of their garbage to dumps or incinerators rather than recycling…the national average of 70 percent.

The thirty largest airports in the United States generated as much trash as the city of Miami in the same period of time. Hopefully, they’ll do something about it. We probably waste too much ourselves…but if each person does a little…it can help a lot.
