It Must Be a Full Moon

The holiday season is always full of craziness. We thought we’d update you on the security insanity of the holiday season.

A US Airways passenger was charged with interfering with a flight crew after he unknowingly slapped a federal air marshal on a flight from Washington to Ft. Myers. The man threw a temper tantrum after the flight attendants refused to serve him any more alcohol.

A Russian Passenger jet was forced to make an emergency landing in Prague after a passenger threatened to blow it up. Russian media reports say the passenger was drunk, although Czech police insisted it was an attempted hijacking.

Air Deccan, an Indian low-cost airline, is suing a passenger who opened an emergency exit on a delayed flight after passengers were told they weren’t allowed to leave the plane. The plane, flying from Mumbai to Delhi, had returned to Mumbai due to fog at Delhi. Air Deccan claims $20,000 in damages as they had to ground the aircraft to repair it after the passenger deployed the emergency slide.

A 51-year old Delta passenger was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay $2931 in restitution, equal to what it cost Delta to to divert a flight to Denver after she slapped a flight attendant and said she was putting a hex on the flight. She was apparently drinking from a wine bottle on a Las Vegas to New York flight and became angry when it was taken from her. She began singing and chanting and telling people onboard they were going to die.

To a new year…and new insanities…
