- Frontier is expanding service on 29 Routes – Frontier will inaugurate Denver-Hartford(March 3), Louisville(April 1), Vancouver BC(May 5), and resume seasonal service to Anchorage(May 6-October 14). On May 4, Frontier will upgrade both its Dayton flights to Airbus aircraft. Frontier will offer the first daily summer nonstops to Ft. Myers, Indianapolis-Cancun service with Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday flights through July 7, new flights from Sacramento to Cabo San Lucas Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday starting March 3, and from San Jose Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday starting March 3. Additional increases will be made in twenty markets, including Albuquerque, Atlanta, Billings, Boise, Guadalajara, Indianapolis, Little Rock, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, Omaha, Orange County, Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, and Tulsa.
- Spirit announced new service to San Jose, Costa Rica beginning April 5. Initially, the service will be three times weekly, but will go daily on May 23. Spirit continues to increase its presence in Latin America, competing from its Ft. Lauderdale hub with American’s Miami dominance of these markets.
- Jetblue finally announced its long awaited White Plains service. There are no surprises there. Beginning March 28, it will have a daily Orlando flight. On April 2, it will add a second flight, as well as daily service to Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Jetblue will use its A320s for this service.
- On April 1, Midwest Airlines will add nonstop service from Kansas City to Seattle. Midwest does not serve Seattle from its primary hub at Milwaukee, as it does not have enough planes capable of flying that far. Southwest operates this route already.
- US Airways has lowered fares to thirty-seven markets to and from Charlottesville, VA.
- Southwest plans to announce new routes from Philadelphia International Airport using five additional departure gates it expects to have by October 15. However, on March 10, it will cancel service from Philly to Hartford to use the planes on better performing routes. Southwest is considering routes for its expanded service to cities such as Washington(Dulles), Cleveland, Denver, Kansas City, St. Louis, Louisville, Birmingham, Albany, Buffalo, and Norfolk.
