Jetblue: Pay More and We’ll Give You a Better Seat

By | February 1, 2007

We are concerned about the latest news from Jetblue. Known for its democratic one-class policy, it is putting together a plan that would hold some of the new 36″ pitch seats created by their decision to remove seats for the passengers paying the highest fares.

Jetblue’s management is convinced that business travelers don’t fly Jetblue because it doesn’t provide first or business class or a way to secure better seats. The 36″ of pitch are not unlike enhanced economy options on various carriers…which are slightly larger seats at a flat-rate upgrade.

It seems like another step in eroding the differences between Jetblue and the legacy carriers. However, we will reserve judgement until we see how they choose to approach the issue. There is still more legroom in the back than industry average.
