Jetblue can’t seem to stay out of the news. We’d love a good Northwest story right now. We’ve always admired them, and continue admire them even after this…but our patience wears thin. So…we’re going to consolidate them. This in no way belittles the seriousness of the situations.
- An accidental fuel spill at Kennedy Airport left some baggage soaked with jet fuel. Jetblue flight 1371, bound for Bermuda, was being fueled before a 10:15AM departure yesterday. The incident was attributed to human error. The 46 passengers will be compensated, but…we wouldn’t want to handle their bags after that.
- Newsday also reports that it took it took 23 minutes to get medical attention to a passenger on a plane at JFK. The man died within the hour last Wednesday after suffering a heart attack on Jetblue Flight 8 to Buffalo, before it left the gate. The flight attendant called the Port Authority at 3:12PM, requesting an ambulance. Two Port Authority policemen arrived within six minutes, but despite being considered medical first responders by the Port Authority, did not help the flight staff, who were struggling with the onboard defibrillator. The police and the Port Authority did not request an ambulance from the New York Fire Department until 3:19, and it did not show up until 3:35, due to waiting more than 7 minutes for a Port Authority police car to escort it to the plane. The Port Authority has its own ambulance at JFK, but it was unavailable. There is no accusation of wrongdoing at this time on the part of Jetblue.
Perhaps Jaunted said it best…Jetblue just can’t seem to catch a break these days…
