We’ve really been trying to get into this Twitter thing, but it is a slow learning curve. JetBlue posted the following tweet:
“We’re testing buy-onboard snack boxes and sandwiches in addition to our free snacks and beverages Let us know if you see some on your flight”
Now, we worry whenever an organization talks about buy-on-board food, we worry they will ultimately make the decision to eliminate free snacks. So, we pondering this quickly with a tweet of our own. JetBlue was obviously reading, and sent us a private message advising us our blue chips were safe. We hope our jungle crackers and chocolate cookies are too. And those alternate cookie flavors at the holidays. We love those.
But we predict one of three things:
- JetBlue is looking for additional sources of revenue, and looking for something to sell tha will supplement their existing offerings. People do like sandwiches.
- JetBlue will, as a result, as it does on its E190 flights, offer two choices of snack instead of six.
- JetBlue will transition entirely to buy on board.
We’re hoping for 1, we’re worried about 2, and 3 is worst-case scenario.
Food aside, let’s get to the service improvements:
- JetBlue began yesterday its daily service to Bogota, Colombia, from Orlando, the only such service, and its first South American destination. The flight will originate in New York-JFK Airport.
- On March 26th, it plans, subject to regulatory authority, daily service to San Jose, Costa Rica.
- This Sunday, they will also add daily service to Nassau, Bahamas to Orlando
- JetBlue, after postponing it last season, is finally resurrecting its plans to serve LAX with two flights to JFK and two to Boston each day, beginning June 18th.
- JetBlue wil also inaugurate flights to Montego Bay, Jamaica, beginning on May 21st, subject to government approval. This is particularly interesting as national carrier Air Jamaica is cutting flights to Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Barbados, Grenada, and Grand Caymen…cutting workers, and is in serious financial trouble.
We’re excited about JetBlue this week, because someone flew on them and brought us a gift…one of those $7 JetBlue pillow and blanket set(They kept the $5 Bed Bath and Beyond certificate enclosed though). We’ll put it in our collection with our first JetBlue flight boarding pass, an original JetBlue timetable, and our JetBlue snowglobe. What can we say? People give us airline stuff…wonder why?
