Effective December 17th until April 12th, US Airways will add seasonal nonstop service from Phoenix to Montego Bay, Jamaica. The flights will operate four weekly flights on Airbus A319s. It is the first nonstop destination in the Caribbean from their Phoenix hub. They already serve Montego Bay from Philadelphia and Charlotte. It is an opportunity for the airline to beef up its locations south of the border from Phoenix.
American Eagle will be launching service between Miami International Airport and Harbour Island, Treasure Cay Abaco, and Governor’s Harbour in the Bahamas, effective November 19th. They will be serving these destinations for the first time since the early 1990s. For details on the service, will be once daily, 3-4 times a week, please click here. They also announced a second daily flight to Marsh Harbour and resuming daily nonstop service to Exuma, Bahamas.
Virgin America still has a fare sale going on until August 11th, for travel between August 18th, and November 18th. Cross-country fares start at $119($20 extra on weekends) each way, all other flights at $49-$69($20 extra on weekends). Check it out.
On November 19th, American Eagle will launch a second daily flight between Dallas/Ft. Worth and Sante Fe Municipal Airport. The new afternoon flight will provide additional and better connections. The previously announced Santa Fe to Los Angeles service will begin that day as well.
Also that day, they will launch once daily nonstop jet service from Charleston, S.C. to Miami International Airport, using 50-seat regional jets.
Allegiant will be adding service to its Phoenix-Mesa Gateway hub from Central Nebraska Regional Airport in Grand Island, Nebraska. Allegiant also flies to Las Vegas twice a week from the airport. The new service will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
We forgot to mention it when, last month, Easyjet announced six-times weekly service from London’s Luton Airport to Tel Aviv. We hope this will bring some much needed low-fare competition on the route.
Air France will be bringing the Airbus A380 superjumbo to JFK, when it will put the aircraft on its Paris to New York flight, beginning in November. On November 20th, Air France Flight 6 to New York and its return, Flight 7, will operate using the plane, the first transatlantic scheduled service with the plane. The Air France A380 is fitted with three cabins classes: 80 seats in Business and 106 seats in Voyageur (Economy) on the upper deck and 9 seats in Première (First) and 343 in Voyageur (Economy) on the main deck. As deliveries are made, the plane will be used to Dubai, Johannesburg, and Tokyo.
