- Two New Startup Airlines Seek to Capitalize on the Myrtle Beach vacation market
- Myrtle Beach Direct Air will start flying March 7 with non-stop flights from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to Pittsburgh, Newark, and Niagara Falls. It will not be daily service, but two to five flights per week on its routes, operated with Boeing 737-200s.
- Southern Skyways plans to launch service from Myrtle Beach on March 2, to Charleston, West Virginia, Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Cincinnati.
- Jetblue has been approached by Palm Springs Airport, who is courting multiple airlines to increase service to the California airport. While Jetblue is looking to open six to eight destinations in 2007, with one already announced, they are not yet rejecting the idea.
- US Airways Lowers Fares to Harrisburg, PA. Walkup fares will be reduced by up to 56 percent, and advance purchase fares by up to 42 percent to 75 markets.
- Horizon Air is adding nonstop service with 70-seat CRJ700s from Spokane, Washington to Sacramento and Los Angeles.
- Delta is adding a daily roundtrip from New York-JFK to Portland, Oregon beginning April 19. This adds to its transcontinental routes from JFK to San Francisco, Seattle, Las Vegas, San Diego, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix…all ironically mirrored by Jetblue service.
- Mesa Air Group announced six day a week service from Farmington, New Mexico to Las Vegas starting February 1, under the banner of US Airways Express.
- US Helicopter will be beginning service from the East 34th Street Heliport. It currently offers service to the Downtown Manhattan Heliport, Newark Airport, JFK Airport, and Bridgeport, CT. Service from the 34th street heliport will begin soon.
- US Airways will be serving Athens, Brussels, and Zurich nonstop from its Philadelphia hub starting this summer.
