This evening, Flight Wisdom went out to the Airplane! 30th Anniversary Screening at the Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center in New York City. As long time fans of this movie, it was exciting to see it on the big screen, and listen to an audience full of people laugh at the movie, something even the writers said they hadn’t had a chance to do in years.
The performance was not only sold out, there was a long line of standby ‘passengers’ hoping to come in. Afterward, several people surprised the writers during the Q&A with the Airplane! record to sign, which we didn’t know existed. Makes us wish we’d brought our Airplane! DVD to get autographed.
We did ask them if they thought Airplane! could have been made in a post-9/11 environment. They believed tat, being a spoof, none of the jokes within are strictly topical.
There isn’t much else to say. If you haven’t seen Airplane!, go out and see it. You can even rent it on Amazon Video on Demand if you haven’t bought a copy.
