Master Lock, the world’s largest maker of padlocks, issued a press release last week. Since it introduced them in 2004, sales of its Travel Sentry-approved locks have jumped 50 percent annually. As they put it…
Increased security threats and recent, well-publicized reports of baggage pilferage at airports have fueled growing demand for locks that let air travelers secure their checked bags while enabling Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officials to inspect them.
The locks can be found in hardware sections at retailers like Target, Home Depot, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Ace Hardware, Walgreens, CVS, K-Mart and Rite-Aid, or, as they suggest, try www.masterlocktsa.com.
We bought a pair a while back at our local Home Depot, and put them on all of our luggage. We have noticed the TSA have asked us to remove them ourselves several times…apparently going and getting the key is an annoyance for them. But that hasn’t happened in a while.
