Northwest cancelled flight 1190 from Las Vegas to Detroit yesterday over the behavior of its captain. The captain was on a cell phone, and at some point during the boarding process, left the cockpit and went into the lavatory, locked the door, and continued his conversation. The conversation could be heard through the door by boarding passengers, using what was described as rude language.
As Reuters reports, when he emerged from the bathroom, a passenger confronted him about it, and that apparently prompted more cursing. Local police questioned the captain, and Northwest flew him back to Detroit. The flight, however, was cancelled. The last of the delayed passengers are expected to be home by Sunday. The airline has promised compensation.
