Continental Airlines announced Friday it now has interline eticketing capabilties with all Alliance partners now that it has implemented them with Air Europa. All codeshare, Skyteam, planned Skyteam associates, and frequent flyer partners are now complete. They expect to eliminate issuing and accepting paper tickets by the end of the year, in accordance with IATA’s mandate.
Today in the Sky pointed out that Southwest is planning to explore Wi-Fi in-flight. They are hoping to begin prototypes within the next nine months to see whether such systems can work and provided at an acceptable cost to the airline. CEO Gary Kelly has declared that while they are searching for forms of ancillary revenue…they will not charge for baggage, paper tickets, call center calls, and other things currently provided with fares.
Jetblue is adding a fifth daily flight between Burlington and JFK through the end of the month to take advantage of busy spring travel.
Air China has increased the Chengdu-Linzhi service to five flights a week.
Aero Republica will begin a second daily flight to Panama City from Bogota on July 13th.
St. Louis’s Lambert Airport is hoping to lure more flights with a $5 million incentive package. It will waive landing fees and terminal rentals for at least six months for any new flights launched. It would apply not only to new airlines, but existing airlines willing to try new routes.
