Frontier Airlines announced new nonstop service from Memphis to Ft. Lauderdale on November 15th. Service from Las Vegas will increase to five days per week on September 6th. On November 15th, a third flight to Denver will begin. Finally, on December 15th, a second flight to Orlando.
San Francisco has rolled out the red carpet for Virgin America…its new hometown airline. Wednesday was announced as Virgin America Day and street-light banners decorated the town.
The Consumerist reports that US Airways misplaced two teenagers traveling from San Diego to Raleigh-Durham. The airline changed their connection while they were in the air, and didn’t bother to tell them. After their father spent 40 minutes on the phone with the airline, they sent a representative to find them. They were given vouchers for food and taken to the control tower to sleep on cots. Now…teenagers are capable of taking care of themselves…but the airline definitely should have told them their connection had changed.
Sun Country Airlines is increasing service to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, and Washington DC. They will also add service to Tucson and West Palm Beach to its schedule. The service is made possible by the delivery of two additional planes to the airline, which is based in Minneapolis.
A passenger tried to smuggle a monkey onto a Spirit Airlines plane. The passenger had originally departed from Lima, Peru and connected in Ft. Lauderdale for a flight to New York-LaGuardia. During the flight, the small monkey crawled out of his hiding spot in the man’s ponytail, forcing him to hold the monkey in his hands, which was spotted by other passengers. Officials met the man at his gate.
