Delta 4819 Crashes In Toronto
After years without serious commercial air incidents, 2025 is not shaping up well. Less than an hour ago, Delta 4819 a CRJ900 operated by Endeavor crashed in Toronto Pearson(YYZ) on its flight from Minneapolis(MSP). Initial footage show the fuselage upside down on a snowy tarmac. The plane seems to have flipped on landing. It appears that at least some passengers have emerged alive and are on the tarmac. Reports that all passengers and crew are accounted for but multiple injuries.
CRJ900 Has An Excellent Safety History
The CRJ900 involved in today’s crash is the bigger brother of the CRJ700 involved in last month’s American Airlines crash at DCA. This is only the third hull loss incident of a CRJ900, and the first in an accident with passengers. In 2014, a CRJ900 was destroyed in fighting between Libyan militias at an airport in Tripoli, and in 2011, a CRJ900 was totalled in a ground collision with a larger Delta plane at Boston’s Logan Airport. Simple Flying has a great history of the CRJ900 here.
